The dugout used for smoking purpose
has different alternative names. The different names are:
Straight-shooter, chillum, one-hitter, a pinchey, Bomber, ping, bat,
batty, or pinger(at the time of open it, a ping sound comes out). For
prudent personals, the use of smoking dugout is useful when they consume
marijuana. It is portable smoking device. The size of a smoking dugout
is same as of a small flat lighter. There is a cavity at one side and a
mouthpiece at the other end of the dugout. The cavity has to be pressed

Construction & Working of Smoking Dugout
The shape of a wooden smoking dugout is either rectangular or sometimes
it may be cylindrical also. It consists two compartments inside of it.
In the bigger compartment, marijuana is stored and in the other
compartment, which has cylindrical shape, is used to store the pipe for
smoking marijuana. The special pipe which has other names also, like
one-hitter, bat or hitter, is stored in the hitter box. It is very much
resemblance a cigarette in its appearance and size. The coloring of the
special pipe is also done in such a way so that it can get the looks of
a cigarette. The marijuana is loaded into the shallow vacant of the
special pipe. The smoke is carried out to the other end of the smoking
dugout through a narrow artery. The smoke which is carried-out in this
way, generates from the marijuana. There is a sliding door in the
smoking dugout that caps the two separate compartments. There is a
spring at the bottom of the cylindrical compartment. When the door is
opened. the end portion of the pipe is pushed-out form the box with the
help of the bottom spring of the cylindrical compartment. The pipe is
allowed to be loaded by the sharp edge of the recess end (the portion of
pipe which has been pushed-out) by allowing it to enter into the
marijuana compartment. The marijuana can then be lighted with a flame
same as the lightening process of cigarette. To allow the inhalers of
marijuana to see the burn during the smoke inhalation, a metal of
lighter is held in-front of the pipe. This pipe reflects the light which
emits from the burning marijuana.
Special Characteristics of Smoking Dug-Out device
Bat metaphor and the smoking dugout indirectly refer to the sport
baseball. The shallow vacant (recess) can hold only that much of
marijuana which is enough for one hit. Therefore, the pipe of the dugout
is called as one-hitter. [Here one-hit implies a single inhalation]. The
shape of the cylindrical one-hitter pipe is like a base ball bat. The
name "dug-out" is derived from the process of digging the
one-hitter pipe into the marijuana compartment in order to dig-out
marijuana from it. In base ball game, those players who don't play
actively in the field, sit in a box, which is called as dugout.
Similarly, in smoking dugout, the marijuana sits in the dug-out box,
when it is not in use. Often, the consumers of marijuana use this
smoking dugout box in the public places to smoke in marijuana. The
reason is that, smoking marijuana from smoking dugout box is very much
similar to cigarette smoking.
This smoking device is sometimes called as "Tobacco Taster",
because instead of smoking marijuana, tobacco can also be used for
smoking. The one-hitter pipe of this device is sometimes also called as
"pinch hitter", because at a time, it can load just a pinch of
marijuana.
